NDI Aurora system

Aurora is a 3D tracking system from NDI.[1]

It uses AC electromagnetic tracking.[2][3]

It emits AC magnetic fields at a maximum rate of 40 Hz.[2]

Aurora was used in the development of Anser EMT. The sensor that was used to test the Anser EMT was the NDI model 610099 5-DOF sensor. The sensor measures 0.5mm in diameter with a rigid tip of 8mm. The sensor was electrically characterised by the Anser team to have a DC resistance of about 70 ohms and series inductance of 2 millihenries. A parasitic capacitance of 900pF was also measured.
