Fakespace can refer to Fakespace, Inc. (Also known as Fakespace Labs) or the company that split from it, Fakespace Systems, which became Mechdyne Corporation.[1]

Fakespace started out of NASA. Fakespace Labs was founded by Mark Bolas, Eric Lorimer, and Ian McDowall.[2]

Fakespace Inc. started as Fakespace Labs, Inc. which started as Fake Space Labs, AKA Fakespace Labs.

On March 2, 1998, Fakespace, Inc. announced that it had named Jim Angelillo as president.[2]

On August 9, 1999, at SIGGRAPH '99, Fakespace Systems Inc.™ and Pyramid Systems announced they had merged.[3] Pyramid Systems was the developer of the CAVE™ spatially immersive display systems and the ImmersaDesk™ family of visualization systems.[3]

As of August 9, 1999, Dan Wright was president and CEO of Fakespace Systems, Inc.[3] Jim Angelillo, previously president of Fakespace, Inc., became vice president of strategic relations.[3]

The August 9th merger followed the recent formation of Fakespace Systems Inc., a member of the Fakespace family of companies.[3]

As of August 9, 1999, there were two and only two business entities in the Fakespace family of companies: Fakespace Systems, Inc. and Fakespace Labs, Inc..[3]

As of August 9, 1999, Mark Bolas was president and CEO of Fakespace Labs, Inc.[3]

In 2007, its website was fakespacelabs.com.[4]

Fakespace, Inc. was a company that developed virtual reality products.

It is synonymous with Fakespace Labs.

In 1999, Electrohome acquired Fakespace Inc. and split off Fakespace Systems.[5]

Founding[edit]

Fakespace was founded in the year 1988. It began a collaboration with the VIEW laboratory at NASA Ames for the design of a CRT-based stereoscopic viewer. The display was mounted on a counterbalanced articulated arm.[6]

Fakespace Labs is synonymous with Fakespace Inc.[5]

As of October 14, 2000, it was known as Fakespace Labs, Inc.[15]

Fakespace Systems is a company that was split from Fakespace, Inc.

Fakespace Systems merged with Mechdyne. Mechdyne Corporation acquired Fakespace Systems.[5]
