A focal plane is a geometric plane that has a fixed accommodative focus from a user. In a VR or AR headset that is flat focus, this is typically a virtual image plane.
Headsets such as those from Lightspace Technologies have multiple focal planes in a focal stack. CREAL's technology pieces together an image from various partial segments, creating quasi-focal planes.
