A laser tracker is a device that uses lasers to measure the distance or position of something.

Laser trackers are either interferometers or absolute distance meters (ADMs). ADMs measure the time it takes for light to travel to a target and back, which is slightly less precise than an interferometer but can "re-find" the target if something blocks the beam temporarily.
