LiDAR stands for light detection and ranging. It can be used as an advanced array distance sensor. The iPhone 12 Pro has a lidar sensor in it.
LiDAR is used by ARKit for faster initial tracking of the environment. LiDAR in ARKit also enables mesh generation of the environment.
LIDAR on iPhones uses VCSELs.

One device that has Lidar TOF imaging is the iPhone 12 Pro from Apple. Using LIDAR, some apps can make 3D scans, such as Polycam. At least one of the scanning apps available on iOS has the ability to upload to Sketchfab within the app.
