A local positioning system (LPS) is a system that can track the position of an object in an indoor or outdoor environment. It is also called an indoor positioning system.
They typically do not track orientation.
Local positioning systems typically have 1cm or broader accuracy, but operate over a wider range than many types of spatial tracking systems.
