MDP02
MDP02 is a family of microdisplays from MicroOled.
Its native monochrome resolution is 2600x2088, which it accepts over a parallel 10 bit RGB digital signal with synchronous pixel clock.[1]
It accepts a 1280x1024 video input. It accepts a frame rate of 25Hz to 60Hz.
The color versions have a 4-to-1 pixel conversion, so their effective resolution is 1300x1044, which is 1280x1024 plus 20 extra color lines and columns for image position adjustment.
Kevin Mellott wrote that the cost of the MDP02A in 2014 was over $1000.[2]
Hardware[edit]
The MDP02 has one connector on it that is a ST4-30-1.00-L-D-P from Samtec. The connector can mate to a SS4 socket such as the Samtec SS4-30-3.00-L-D-K or SS4-30-3.50-L-D-K. The socket has a 0.4mm footprint pin pitch. On a socket-side PCB, each pin has a 0.23mm wide pad that is 0.93mm long. The footprint pin pitch is 0.4mm. The distance across the two columns of pins is 5.6mm, which means the inner "keep-out" space is 3.74mm.
MDP02 operates using a number of different voltages: VDDIO is 2.5V, VDD is 1.5V, and VDDA is 3.3V.
The total power consumption is about 250 milliwatts.
MDP2 units before about 2020 use a SMD voltage regulator on the board, which is a SOT23-5 package LN1138 from a chinese company. After about 2020, the design was changed to have a different regulator that has a flat no-leads package, and added to the board were test points.
The pixel pitch is 9.4 microns. The RGB subpixel pitch is 4.7 microns.[3]
The printed circuit board (PCB) has multiple layers.
Voltage regulation[edit]
A LN1138 is used on pre-2020 boards which may be a LN1138C202KR. The LN1138 is a low-dropout regulator (LDO regulator).[4]
Units after about 2020 use a different chip for voltage regulation and have another chip that is a 6-ball wafer scale component (WLCSP-6) with a line 1 marking of "66C".
