MicroOLED
MicroOLED is a company in France that makes small displays for use in near-eye displays.[1][2]
The company provides near-eye OLED-on-silicon (OLEDoS) displays and modules for products such as video glasses and head-mounted sports devices.[3][4]
The company advertises displays of many different color-displaying capabilities, including full color, multi-color, two-color, and monochrome displays.
Microoled supplied displays to companies including FoVI 3D, Light Field Lab, and N2 Imaging.
Microoled displays are in the engo smartglasses.
Palmer Luckey considered using MicroOLED displays for the Oculus Rift, but did not based on the lower field of view of the microdisplays.[5]
MicroOLED displays were investigated by Vortex Optics (Sheltered Wings Inc, operating as Vortex Optics) including the MDP01, MDP02, and MDP05.[6]
Product lines[edit]
- MDP01 - 0.38 inch diagonal
- MDP02 - 0.61 inch diagonal
- MDP03 - 0.39 inch diagonal
- MDP05 - 0.19 inch diagonal
- MDP07 - 0.38 inch diagonal
- MDP08 - 0.19 inch diagonal
- MDP09 - 0.39 inch diagonal
- MDP10 - 0.59 inch diagonal
MicroOLED makes evaluation kits for its displays available to its partners. Some of the evaluation kits use STM32 processors.[7]
MicroOLED displays are in the Panasonic Lumix GH3 digital camera as its electronic viewfinder (EVF).
History[edit]
Microoled was founded in 2007.[8] It was co-founded by Eric Marcellin-Dibon.[9]
In about 2010, 51 percent of MicroOLED was owned by Photonis Technologies.
In about early 2015, UTC Aerospace Systems and MICROOLED entered into an agreement designating Sensors Unlimited as the primary and only U.S. sales representative for MICROOLED imaging products to customers in defense, security, law enforcement and sports optics business segments.[10]
Microoled partnered with Fraunhofer FEP and Limbak on a VR headset prototype design.[11]
As of about 2017, its manufacturing line and R&D facilities were in Grenoble, France.[12]
In 2025, the company opened a U.S. office in Dallas, Texas.[13]
