Polhemus G4
Polhemus G4 is an electromagnetic tracking system from Polhemus. It is wireless. It communicates with a computer by WiFi.[1]
The G4 SEU is compact and can be belt worn. It has a battery inside.[2]
What is unique about the G4 is that the system electronics unit is worn.
The other thing that is unique is that the system electronics unit does not do the P and O calculation. This is similar in concept to the Model 1. The P and O are calculated on a PC connected wirelessly to the SEU. Alternatively, Polhemus claims the opposite, claiming that G4’s hub calculates each sensor's position and orientation, and then wirelessly reports the information directly to the PC.[3]
It was launched at Siggraph 2010.[4]
The SEU has a USB micro-B 2.0 connector.
The electromagnetic tracking source is about 4 inches wide in each dimension.
