Spatial hearing refers to the ability to perceive the location of sounds in a three-dimensional space.
It happens in the human brain, and can be imitated for the implementation of a spatial tracking system in VR headsets and controllers, where the electronic devices know where they are by emitting or receiving ultrasonic sounds to or from base stations, especially in a 1 meter cube environment.
Factors include interaural phase difference, which is a type of phase difference of arrival (PDOA).
