An egocentric display is a display that is in a fixed position relative to the user's head or eyes, and therefore lines up with one's perceptual space.
HMDs provide an egocentric point of view into a virtual world.[1]
An egocentric task is one in which the user and the environment share a reference frame.[1]
Egocentric displays are suited to 3D viewports.[2]
