An electromagnetic tracking coil is a coil of wire used to make an electromagnet as part of an electromagnetic tracking system. It can either be on the transmitting side, in which case it is a transmitter coil, or the receiving side.
Transmitter coils are typically large, such as in electromagnetic tracking sources like the Polhemus TX2. Receiving coils can be extremely small.
